- what i did
I updated my website this weekend. It's something Ive been meaning to do for a while.
Part of me just wanted to modernize the styling, but I also wanted to give it more of a "developer" vibe and I think I've succeeded.
Here's a thread of all the changes I made!
I’ve always been a fan of simple hero sections, so that stayed the same but I did add a pic of myself so visitors can put a face to the name.
You’ll also notice I moved away from a serif font towards sans for headers and monospace for other copy, which feels more developer-y

Next I put my portfolio front and center, with a big emphasis on the latest big thing I’m working on.
I also hand-picked a few of my favorite projects that showcase my skills as a software developer.

Moving down the home page, I also added a dedicated sections to some of my most impactful jobs through my 15 year career in tech. Selecting any of these bring you to that section in the “Work with me” page.

I still wanted to emphasize my content work, so the next section is a visually contrasted list of all the pieces of content (on site and off site) I’ve created over the years.
So far I’m up to 145 pieces, although it’s not yet complete! I still have YouTube and a few other sites to pull in.

Finally, there the contact form is right on the home page! I only did this to remove what felt like a very bare page on the previous version.

My old portfolio is very similar to the current one, but thats gonna change over time. I plan to implement sections or filters to let visitors more easily find the projects they are interested in learning about.
I also want to flag open source projects and highlight them more (alot of projects are).

I’m not done yet but I decided last night that I’m far enough along to ship it! Here are a few things I’ve yet to do:
- Show related content pieces on portfolio items.
- Create dynamic opengraph templates
- Add A TON of content and portfolio items
Thanks for getting this far! Tell me what you love, or how I could do better!
